Awakening Created to embrace the transformative power of self love and awareness, this stunning kimono combines two magical pieces of art: a lush landscape of the waterfalls at Tivoli, Italy, painted by artist Louis Ducros in 1790, and an antique engraving depicting Lady Liberty created by E. Savage in 1796. We married them together to produce a rich, beautiful vision of a woman confidently stepping in to her own power. The painterly palette is feminine, romantic, and strong.
I Dream in Flowers A riotous, painterly celebration of art and the natural world, this exquisite duster is all at once romantic, ethereal, and so so cool. Inspired by the romance of European flower markets, we created this kimono using a masterful oil painting from the early 1600’s by artist Jan Brueghel, and an ink drawing of bumblebees we found in a Victorian insect encyclopedia. It has the look of a treasured vintage piece that will never go out of style. Dress it up or down — either way, expect compliments :)
Looking Glass Step through the looking glass with our loving tribute to Alice in Wonderland, a whimsical celebration of storytelling, imagination, and of course — wonder. This super cool piece features rare flower and foliage photography from the late 1800s, and a captivating portrait of Alice Liddell (the girl who inspired Lewis Carroll to write Alice in Wonderland), when she grew up. The portrait was taken in 1872 by influential photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, who photographed Liddell many times during her life. The moon in our design comes from a historic photo taken by the Harvard Observatory, and the star trim (including the trim on Alice’s collar) comes from a fragment of wallpaper from the same era.
Mucha's Zodiac A regal, resplendent celebration of the stories told in the stars, featuring the iconic 1896 Zodiac lithograph by Art Nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha. Mucha’s beloved work features a majestic woman surrounded by the by the 12 zodiac signs and adorned in intricate celestial jewellery. We added a large star to her remarkable crown. The background comes from an incredible ink-on-silk scroll painting by Ueno Setsugaku, created in the 1860’s. We trimmed this design with Mucha’s zodiac signs on a deep burgundy background. The result is an opulent and elegant take on Mucha’s work, with a nod to the luxe bohemianism of the 1970’s.
Wild Beauty Majesty, luxury, and good luck! Peacocks — symbols of strength, confidence, luck, and royalty — have been celebrated for their glorious and colourful plumage throughout history. This remarkable piece features several joyful, deliciously rich artworks from the 1600’s by Dutch painter Melchior d’Hondecoeter in a lush palette of crimson, ochre, and cerulean blue. The whimsical trim is a peacock toile print we created using a reconstructed French textile fragment from the same era.
